BCUK API for iPhone App?

I was wondering if there is an API that someone could use to post to BCUK via an iPhone app.

I'm considering having a go at writing one, very VERY early stages so far but I'm working on it.

If not, I can set it up using the mobile posting function, but it would be nice for people not to have to faff about with settings.

Also, would there be any legal issues if I copied the interface for the post editor? I'd like to keep it as similar to the BCUK editor as possible.

API = Application Programming Interface. Basically, sites with an API let people make applications "plug in" to them, so people can interact without going to the site.

A good example is Twitter, and all the apps you can use to post tweets.

Even if there IS an API, any app I write will be basic - just a way to write and submit new posts, not read BCUK or reply to comments. I've not done any coding for the iPhone yet!

but, it's super easy to get into/stay in BCUK with the iPhone you don't neeeed an API!
And the you can always email in a new post!

You could say that about any site - it's still useful to have a little app to do a specific job though. I envision a window that looks just like the editor on the site.

It may be that it's easier to just write an app that looks like the editor, and then emails the stuff in. I have no clue yet; as I said, it's early days.

The idea is that you have the features of the editor (formatting, smilies, links etc.) without having to go and log in to the website.

Don't worry, I don't really understand it either, and I wrote it.
