Joining groups in other countries

I'm confused. Why on earth can we not join communities or groups in other countries?
I do believe we are all ONE people through the internet. I would greatly appreciate this enabling us to join groups in other countries as a gift from our beloved tekkies!

I agree there is a lot of knowledge or even just plain fun to be had be allowing universal groupage.

Just a guess, but I expect each group is run on a server for a particular country. Not sinister...

Unfortunately it is not possible due to technical difficulties and the extra strain it would put on our platform.

the problem is that we need to reserve the possiblity of having the same username on different domains ... so thats whay we just cannot join groups across domains, they could be totally seperate one day.
