It would be quite useful if the number of comments were to be included in the lists of postings.

Just a note of the number of comments on each posting next to the title on one's tabbed homepage listing, so one can decide if one wants to read it - often a posting which has drawn comments will be more interesting than one which hasn't.

As a measure of curiosity, I suppose it can be helpful to see who 'nosed'. Some blogs that draw lots of comments are not half as interesting as some that have just two or three comments. It is all subjective. It's whatever appeals to the individual. On the other hand, there are blogs with few comments and a lot of visitors. How do you assess those?

Not sure I agree with that, Munzly, I've found posts that merit some comment but nobody seems to bother to do so...and they aren't boring either...

Yes, I think would be quite difficult to implement with little payoff.
